Transform your leadership with a change management course
Leading any change initiative has always been challenging. For an organisation to achieve successful transformation initiatives, it must prioritise professional development and knowledge in the change management field and actively upskill its affected leaders.
Authentic leaders are much more likely to enable change than leaders who seek to hide their own feelings and reactions and who will, in the process, negatively impact trust. One of the most important elements of successful change is a leadership team that defines a vision of the future, illustrates why it is important and shares how it will impact the wider business and individuals in the team.
Change initiatives are role-modelled from the top, and successful change leadership requires proactivity, visibility and commitment from senior leaders.
Rising Vibe, change management course
Our change management courses support and challenge your leaders to deliver successful change by being able to develop knowledge in these areas:
- Establishing a clear change management plan: Outlining what the change is, why the change is happening, how it will be implemented and what the desired outcomes are.
- Communicating effectively: Keeping the team fully informed about the change project(s) at an individual level so that they know what they need to do to adjust.
- Managing expectations: Setting realistic expectations for how long it will take for people to adjust. Change doesn’t happen overnight, so baby step actions are important.
- Eliciting input from across the business: Encouraging everyone to speak up and provide feedback on the change initiatives is essential. Their input is critical as it can support the process by enabling insight into implementation.
- Enabling people management provision during the change process: Providing clear channels of communication when managing change affects, so that the team are able to access support if they are facing challenges or setbacks.
- Recognising successes along the way: Celebrating any progress to reinforce desired behaviours, and maintain motivated employees as the change continues.
Rising Vibe’s change management courses challenge leadership at all levels, as well as support them to implement strategies and practice their change learning effectively. All of this whilst minimising stress, confusion and resistance.
What is change management?
Change management is a systematic approach to enabling a transition or transformation. The focus tends to be on goals, new systems, processes and technologies, but without the same level of focus and attention on the human aspect of managing change, change effects won’t happen!
To enable change, an organisation’s people need knowledge and clarity about what is changing, an understanding of the benefits and a belief that it is possible. Powerful change management engages at this level, as well as in the more transactional aspects of the change.
Change management exists to help managers implement strategies for effecting change. At Rising Vibe, we work with change leaders to improve their management skills so that they can support their people in adapting to change.
Who is change management training for?
Training around change is for everybody as part of wider organisational development; the wider team needs to be prepared for the change(s) to ensure everyone is on the same page, and the leadership team must be supported and upskilled where required to navigate the change effectively.
Why do we need change management?
Effective change management increases trust and employee engagement and, in turn, results in performance improvement. It minimises the costs and risks of the change, and improves the projects’ return on investment.
It can help to make impactful choices, increase productivity, decrease risks and enable greater profitability.
When driven by capable, skilled and empathetic leadership, who keep people involved, the workforce is much more likely to move through change management practices successfully.
Building a culture that embraces change
Becoming an organisational change management practitioner is not for the faint-hearted; it requires resilience. Whilst there might be a sense of urgency, patience is essential as change unfolds.
Culture change only happens by recognising success, celebrating both small steps and big wins, and reinforcing the change within the business environment. Validating progress and holding people accountable for behaviour change is the foundation. It’s important to support knowledge transfer, encourage the emotions that drive engagement, and challenge those that bring resistance.
Effective project change management
As well as senior leadership role modelling, there must be opportunities for mid-managers, frontline leaders and individual contributors to engage in change management.
People are more likely to engage when they feel a sense of ownership. It’s important to listen and seek input continuously. Clarify expectations for new behaviour; people need to know the difference between what they were doing before and how that’s different from what you’re requesting tomorrow. In addition, confirm plans quickly and communicate regularly.
Improved employee engagement and adoption
Provide both push communication (whether asked for or not) and pull communication (allowing people to find more information if they want it). Provide a variety of mechanisms and course materials through which people can obtain information, e.g., online, in-person, in written form or in video form.
People need different kinds of information at different times. Be intentional and proactive. At the beginning of the change management process provide information that is contextual, and as the change continues, provide direction on logistics, details and procedures and be sure to give people information about how they can contribute to continuous improvement.
“If you’re not tired of hearing yourself say it by the end of the day, you haven’t said it enough.”
